DiasFlec | I’m Not Excited About Transformers: Fall Of Cybertron Just Because Of Metroplex | (2/22/2012)

1329917068 34 I’m Not Excited About Transformers: Fall Of Cybertron Just Because Of Metroplex

In the next major Transformers video game, you will be able to issue orders to a massive, rampaging Metroplex.

You will be about to control Bruticus.

You will be able to transform, as Grimlock, from robot to Tyrannosaurus Rex. You’ll breathe flames from your jaws.

You will be able to fulfil the fantasies not of a 21st-century Transformers fan but of a kid who grew up in the ’80s and marvelled that there was such a thing as a half metre tall plastic robot who could transform into a city. The fantasies of a kid whose toy space shuttle, helicopter, tank, truck and jeep could transform into robots or merge into one massive, if a bit lanky, one.

Yes, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron appears to be the Transformers game made for me, or more specifically for my brother.

Our mother spoiled us with Transformers when we were kids. For a few years, we got them all. Every Autobot. Every Decepticon. Somehow we divided them up without rancor. I got Omega Supreme, Soundwave and Megatron. He got Trypticon, Blaster and Optimus Prime.

I got the Aerialbots. He got the Stunticons. And so on.

My brother doesn’t make video games. He definitely doesn’t work at High Moon Studios, which is putting out its third Transformers game in three years with Fall of Cyberton. But, what do you know? The first time I see this new game, it’s pretty much all his Transformers. Metroplex was his. The Combaticons, who formed Bruticus, were mostly his. Grimlock was his Dinobot. I had other Dinobots.

This game takes me back to my childhood, when who “owned” which Dinobot mattered and when the Transformers were the coolest things in my life.

I can’t see this new game without looking at it through the eyes of my youth. I think that’s the point. People like me are a target audience for High Moon’s even-year Transformers games, which are the ones not tied to the Michael Bay movies. These games, starting with 2010′s War for Cybertron are throwbacks to the beloved 80′s Transformers, the originals who started in weekday-afternoon cartoons that usually involved Megatron scheming to make more energon cubes and Starscream screwing things up.

The Cybertron games take those original Transformers and put them in a new fiction set on the robots’ home planet. To 21st-century fans they may simply be interesting robot-centric shooters with a transformation gimmick. For me, they’re an ark of nostalgia.

The first one, War for Cyberton was a surprisingly good robot-icized Gears of War. It was made with the Unreal Engine — Gears‘ tech-and brought players through a pair of campaigns, one as various Autobots, one as Decepticons, leading to climaxes against the massive Trypticon and Omega Supreme, respectively.

I enjoyed that first game, and I could tell you what I wanted from a sequel from a gamer’s perspective. I could also tell you what I wanted from the perspective of a boy who loved owning the Protectobots.

But this is the game designer’s perspective: Matt Tieger, the game’s creative director, told me this new game needed to look better than the first one. That first one looked too same-y. It neeed more gameplay variety and better artificial intelligence.

Yeah, sure, Matt Tieger. It needed a combiner. It needed five robots merging into one.

Good thing Fall of Cybertron appears to incorporate both his needs and mine.

Tieger showed me the new game in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago. He showed me the better and more varied graphics, as one of his High Moon people first played through a level made for the Combaticon Vortex. This level was bright and open, more of a combat arena than a combat hallway. (Watch the video up top for a look at this and other levels from the game.) Vortex blitzed through a range of shootable Autobots as a helicopter, jet and robot. He could transform at any time. His level had a lot of tan and open space. A Jazz level — hey! Jazz was mine! — was more blue and grey and designed for Jazz’s specialties in sniping and use of a grappling hook. When Jazz transforms from robot to Cybertronian-not-officially-a-Porsche-space-car, he does a little breakdance, by the way.

The Man Who Saved The Dinobots – Transformers gurus at Hasbro have been trying to streamline their various toy, game and movie continuities. That effort was going to snip the Dinobots from Transformers lore — they just didn’t mesh with the new history — until Fall of Cybertron‘s creative lead, Matt Tieger, heard about it and figured out how to weave them into his video games’ part of the timeline.

The solution? It turns out these Cybteron games take place about 70 million years ago. When Decepticon Shockwave goes looking for some new transformation forms for a bunch of kickass robots, he happened to get a glimpse of prehistoric earth and the beasts that roamed the planet then. Tieger cautions us not to get too technical about which dinos were on the Earth then; just go with it. It gets us Grimlock in this game, a double-height robot who only can do melee attacks but turns into a marauding mechanical T-Rex (he looks very fun to play as). It also gets us other Dinobots, such as Snarl, Swoop and Sludge, all of whom I caught glimpses of in a level that started players as Starscream and transitioned into a very cool Grimlock rampage.

After you’ve played some Combaticon missions, the game combines the five Decepticons into Bruticus and you control the 24m monster. You tower over the Autobots, who you blast with laser beams or just smash to bits.

In an Optimus Prime level you run around as the ultimate goody-two-shoes Autobot leader. You can summon Metroplex to transform and take out targets. It’s a shame that publisher Activision hasn’t released images of this, because, you really should see the sight of a robot that was transformed from being a city, now stomping around in the distance, responding to your cues. It’s vey impressive (that might be my 10-year-old self talking. Can’t help it.)

Tieger says he thinks of the Cybertron games as navigation-based shooters, not cover-based shooters, as you’d classify Gears. He wants the game’s levels to feel open and to empower his players to use constant robot-to-vehicle transformation to dart around a battlefield, fighting in both forms, making the action play out in response to their play style.

This new game has no connection to last year’s not very good High Moon Transformers game, which tied into the 2011 Transformers: Dark of the Moon movie. Tieger told me that High Moon split into two teams after War For Cyberton, one to do the movie in one year, one to make this game in two. He didn’t have to tell me which game High Moon is more proud of.

This Cybertron game has some other changes from the first. Now we’re getting just one campaign that transitions players back and forth from being Autobot to Decepticon. They’re doing more with upgradeable weapons, and they’ve moved the camera in tighter, cropping the Transformers legs from view to give, in my eyes, the game a look that’s closer to being a shooter than an action game. They’re also working in more quiet story-building moments into the game to interrupt the shooting and not cram all the narrative into dialogue shouted at you during battle.

They’re bringing back multiplayer, which Tieger admits was a hard sell last year. But they think they’ve got something distinct with transformation-enabled multiplayer, plus I’m sure it’s seen as a viable strategy for selling downloadable content post-release. They’re not showing much of it yet, save for an elaborate Transformer character-creator, which lets players build their own robot from many component parts and then transform that bot into one of several pre-baked vehicle forms (the thing they’re proud of here is how, no matter what kind of robot you build, the transformation to vehicle animates smoothly and convincingly).

I’m an easy audience if you’re showing me a video game that lets me play with the toys I loved as a kid. War for Cybertron did get redundant, but it also had Omega Supreme, for goodness’ sake, so of course I played through it. It played fine, without any all-time –great encounters or memorable levels, but I was content with it. Fall of Cybertron has even more fan service for me, and it looks like it’ll player better. Of course, I’m on board.

I just hope they add more Transformers that were mine and not my brother’s. Where’s Ultra Magnus at? Bring on the Technobots, if you can. Devastator? I’d approve. At least they’re promising the Insecticons and… Cliffjumper? Come on, High Moon, he was my brother’s! Would you consider adding Sky Lynx?

OK, OK. That’s a terrible idea. I know.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron will be out for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this year.

The plants in Plantasia will die if they are eaten by bugs or if you do not water them. Once won, the game resets and a new map is started for the next round. Next, go to a Land Command center, Vehicle Yard and Infantry Base to create fighting units. There are a lot of reactions in that realm. Game cheats is surely not like this anymore. With internet quite an accessible thing today, PC Games Online makes gaming so much innovative and creative that in certain situations consumers confronted in their regular life that usage of such pc games aid in making decisions at that moment. DiasFlec | Why video games are good for you  | (2/22/2012)

1329913470 49 Why video games are good for you

What is the influence of video games on the human mind?

Why, they’re the greatest boon to intellectual development since the invention of movable type.

Not everybody thinks this. The common view from President Obama on down is that video games rot your mind, sap your strength, and probably give you acne and bad breath.

I don’t claim video games have been 100 percent beneficial. The Columbine massacre shooters were reportedly addicted to video games. News accounts tell of a kid killing his mother with a hammer when she took away his Sony PlayStation, and of another killing his mom and shooting his dad when they made him stop playing the violent game Halo 3. A woman murdered her baby because its crying disturbed her concentration on FarmVille, which is up there for most idiotic game on earth. A South Korean couple reportedly let their baby starve to death while they raised a virtual baby online, and an American mother did the same while obsessing over World of Warcraft. A Korean man (Korea is the Holy Land of video game fanatics) apparently died of exhaustion after a 50-hour Starcraft binge, and a guy in Wisconsin fatally shot himself while playing Everquest.

These things are unfortunate. However, let’s not forget that Jared Loughner, accused of shooting U.S. Representative Gabby Giffords and 18 others, said on his MySpace page that his favorite interest was reading and that he studied grammar. This isn’t surprising. If you’ve ever dealt with hardcore grammarians, you know these people are prepared to kill.

My point is if you’re going to make judgments about something just because it attracts kooks and losers, you’d have to ban the Republican primaries. Video games, in contrast, have many positive aspects. For example:

• They can boost brain function. When older adults were trained to play Rise of Nations, a strategy game, they showed significant improvement in switching between tasks, reaction time, and memory. College students who played both violent and nonviolent video games also showed increased cognitive function. Research indicates video gamers are better at counting items quickly, ignoring distractions, and taking in more information at a glance. The stacking game Tetris has been shown to improve spatial coordination.

• Video games requiring physical interaction, such as the Nintendo Wii, Xbox Kinect, and PlayStation Move, can help you get in shape. A Mayo Clinic study found children playing Wii Sports Boxing burned an 189 additional calories per hour. Do that for 40 minutes every day and other things being equal you’d lose a pound a month.

• Video games can help you train for serious tasks requiring video technology. In a study of medical students who spent up to five hours a week playing either a shooter game or a chess simulator, the shooters proved to be much more adept at learning to use a virtual-reality training simulator for endoscopic surgery. (The next step would have been having the students perform actual endoscopic surgery, which is also done with video technology, but the researchers prudently stopped short of this ultimate test.) Another study found that if you’re good at the Wii, you’ll be good at simulated laparoscopic surgery, too.

• Video games can be an effective teaching tool. A game designed for kids with diabetes reduced ER visits, and one for kids with cancer got them to take their medicine.

Video games have other benefits, too:

• Video shooter games are a good way of recruiting real shooters. America’s Army, developed by America’s real army, is the most popular war game ever, with 43 million downloads as of 2009, and is credited with being the military’s most effective recruiting tool. Whether it’s smart to fill the ranks with trigger-happy 94m3r$ I leave to the reader to decide.

• Violent video games may reduce rather than increase crime, some academics contend, because causing make-believe mayhem leaves participants with less time for the real thing.

• The demands of video gamers for ever faster and more realistic action have significantly pushed the envelope of digital technology, to the point where off-the-shelf toys now rival professional computer equipment that once cost millions. For example, in 2010 the Air Force Research Laboratory unveiled a high-speed, low-cost networked supercomputer it had built by linking together 1,760 PlayStation 3 consoles. Recently the Army announced it’ll use a video game engine to power a portable virtual-reality training program, the Dismounted Soldier Training System.

• Finally, video games are a potent force in the economy, accounting for $16 billion in software sales and $9 billion in hardware in 2010 in the U.S., and $65 billion worldwide. Sixty-five percent of U.S. households play video games.

Am I putting a positive spin on things? Of course. You can find evidence to show, and there’s no lack of people who think, that video games are evil and will lead to the collapse of civilization. However, the same is or was thought to be true of television, popular music, text messaging, gum chewing, cars, and books.

BioShock 2 still encounters some controversy over its mature content because of the themes that the game revolves around. Automate is the ultimate Tycoon type game for auto lovers. Suit, but it also sets expectations. And how do you do that? By far the hardest modus operandi of getting a miniclip that forms a feeling for a miniclip. One more feature about the DCUO game play, the optimization for PC and Sony PlayStation 3 Computer Entertainment System, and with the ability to play using play station or PC is just good news. 1329836652 57 MLB 2K12 Brings Real Action to the Game

Spring is around the corner, and that can mean only one thing to baseball fans and sports gamers alike: the boys of summer will be hitting the diamond soon. It will be easy to get in on the action with the latest Major League Baseball title from Take-Two Interactive.

Like clock-work, 2K Sports (a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive), has returned for this upcoming baseball season with an all new title that includes some updates that promise enhanced and realistic play. What's changed? In addition to the usual suspects of updated rosters and tweaked visuals, a better game of baseball is at the top of the list.

The official MLB 2K12 Developer Diary explains how the the pitching system was researched, overhauled, and redesigned. In short, typically a full range of pitches weren't always being used in the prior titles as gamers easily fell into a comfort zone on the mound. With the new system, however, players can expect a different experience with every pitch. A warning system will alert pitchers that they may want to change things up a little. This is because smarter batters will intelligently react and adapt to a pitchers style and tendencies. Improved physics also promise more accurate delivery of the ball over the plate. Speaking of the plate, the batting system has been described as being tweaked as well. Bunting precision, for example, has been updated, and a batter's swing timing now has a greater and more authentic impact on the actual hit, which in turn offers a greater variety of results out on the field.

Keeping in line with moving toward realism, a new mode, MLB Today Season Mode, allows gamers to play their favorite team throughout the real-life season. When a game is played at same the time of a real life game, resulting in-game data is used for the team's progress in the season. What if gamers miss or take the day off? No problem. Results and data from the real-world game is used to fill in the blanks—no do-overs or second chances.

While this latest entry in the yearly baseball game franchise marks the series' 10th title overall, and the last under a current MLB contract, it is the first title to include a soundtrack provided through a music media partnership. SPIN Media, the popular music discovery resource, hand selected and compiled a 13-song soundtrack to polish gameplay excitement.

Major League Baseball 2K12 is scheduled for release March 2012 on PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Microsoft Windows, Nintendo DS, Wii, and Xbox 360 gaming platforms. Note that actual play may vary by platform.

Priced at $349 and $299, respectively, the US package includes a 3G version of the system, while the Canadian edition will be Wi-Fi only. These prices represent a $50 premium over a stand-alone system.

Aside from the variance in connectivity options, the contents of the bundles are identical across regions. The package will include a PS Vita system, a copy of Bigbig Studios’ Little Deviants, a 4GB PS Vita Memory Card, and a limited-edition case.

Gamers looking to stock up on Vita games can grab a host of new titles before the system’s launch in full on February 22. Namco Bandai is also promising wireless multiplayer action at 60 frames per second and 3DS Street Pass support that will have players trading collectible Tekken cards with others while the system is asleep.

Also out this week is mixed martial arts title UFC Undisputed 3, from THQ. The game is due for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and sports a number of changes to UFC’s classic striking and grappling systems, an alternate, simplified control scheme, and in-match tutorials.

Fans who enjoy sports titles but prefer racquets to fists can pick up Grand Slam Tennis 2 this week for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game features all four of the sport’s biggest championships: the French Open, the Australian Open, the US Open, and Wimbledon, which will be exclusive to EA Sports’ game. Grand Slam Tennis 2 also features more than 20 past and present pros, including Bjorn Borg and Serena and Venus Williams.

Lastly, PC gamers finally get their mitts on Alan Wake this week. Due out on Thursday, Alan Wake is a third-person-oriented action game that has players battling supernatural forces in the town of Bright Falls. The game was originally released for the Xbox 360 in 2010.

Robin Burrowes, who used to head up Microsoft UK’s product marketing, is now handling App Store marketing for Apple.

Apple has added another gaming PR manager.

Apple might be a hardware company, but theiPhone maker seems to be increasingly focused on gaming.

Robin Burrowes, former marketing manager atXbox UK and head of product marketing at Microsoft UK, has moved to Apple’s European office to handle App Store Marketing, several reports out of the country and Burrowes’ own LinkedIn profile claim.

As U.K. gaming publication MCV points out, Apple has been aggressively attracting gaming public relations professionals over the last several months. The company has brought on former Nintendo UK PR boss Robert Saunders, as well as Nick Grange, who worked in the PR departments at Electronic Arts, Activision, and Xbox.

According to research firm Flurry Analytics, Apple’s iOS-based devices are becoming increasingly popular in the gaming space. In 2009, for example, iOS- andAndroid-based games accounted for just 19 percent of all gaming software revenue. That figure grew to 34 percent in 2010 and an estimated 58 percent last year.

Meanwhile, so-called “traditional” gaming companies, like Nintendo and Sony, have watched their market share slide over the last few years. In 2009, Nintendo’s portable game software revenue stood at 70 percent in the U.S., but dropped to 36 percent last year. Sony’s PSP owned 11 percent of the space in 2009, but that figure declined to 6 percent in 2011.

“Portable console gaming no longer has a practical place in the current landscape of casual flick, drag, and swipe games,” CNET’s Jeff Bakalar wrote in a discussion on portable systems last year. “There is no room for the 3DSes and Vitas of the world when all-in-one functionality is now more important than high-tech, gaming-focused mobile systems.”

Apple did not immediately respond to CNET’s request for comment on its recent hires.

Also, they focus on the weekly best gaming deals from online stores (Steam, GoG, and Direct2Drive) along with other features. Although, I comprehend that not everybody is like this as long as that just required a bit of time. It is like a window to another world. Are you ready to do whatever you have to do for game? I'm not saying too much free computer games is good. It also comes with celebrity likenesses such as Elvis Presley, Madonna and The Beatles. And with their joint skills and know-how join forces to solve mysteries. There's actually no reason not to give puzzle games online a shot.

1329709447 62 Trends in selling you a Video Game….. Xbox 720 rumor…..

I have been reading a couple of news bits around the web about an upcoming Xbox model console that will include the feature of not playing a previoously used Game. I think this is idiotic on several levels if it is true. I can understand Microsoft wanting to capitalize on sales of games and getting more revenue by taking the USED retail (Game Stop for example) and by mail Game Rental Companies (Gamefly.com) revenue stream but…… I now live in a Multi Xbox home. If I can play the games I buy on just one console I am going to be pissed. If Microsoft really wants to kill the second tier game sales market, they need to go all download and connect it to Xbox Live accounts. Of course that would require Live to be free (It should be, there are already too many advertisements in something for which I pay monthly.)

I think Steam has it right. I can download games and play them from anywhere I can log in from. Same currently with Xbox Live. I can re-download anything I have purchased from their store and play it.

I don’t see any bonus for the consumer for a new Xbox with such a feature, can you?

Check out huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/26/xbox-720-rumors-blu-ray-kinect-2-used-games_n_1234775.html for more speculation.

Probably, the main two benefits of game are simply free internet games and online game. At the beginning of the level, search the elevators for a dead soldier. There are many sites over there, which one can join by paying a price that is even less than a second hand game and Download Free Full Version PC Games unlimitedly. You don't need to hit the enemy, just shoot it to the sides. If you want more challenging dino games, there are many available for purchase for various systems. It's the idea: some teachers have nothing to learn apropos to miniclip. The second set is found on the windowsill in the Landon's garage.

Xbox 360 Game Reviews and Ratings – Bayonetta – News, features, game trailers and video.

1329699850 15 Xbox 360 Game Reviews and Ratings Bayonetta News, features, game trailers and video.

Action-adventure story by which Bayonetta, a born-again witch, will need to battle angels using unique “witch-like abilities” and also guns equipped to your ex hands and feet.

We take a look Around the Web for all clips video-game-related in our feature. This week, we feature Bayonetta on download, a Dragon Age II demo, and a sweet Lego Star Wars trailer. We dig deep into the vault to find the cheesiest or most romantic moments from our favorite games. Note: This video contains content that some may consider provocative.

Bayonetta is together gratuitous, ludicrous, and marvelous, but that is precisely why it is such a untamed and enjoyable adventure. The Good:

Fluid, flexible, and exciting combat technique. Witch time and witch wander add brand-new dimensions to battle. Fantastic, unforgettable boss fights. Intuitive credit scoring system with internet leaderboards. Superbly animated.

The Bad:

Some minor camera issues.

From the minute Bayonetta’s prologue begins, it can be made abundantly clear that you are entering quantity of pure wonder and scene. As the prelude unfolds, you handle the titular heroine and stylishly send an angelic host associated with enemies whilst standing on the face of an overflowing clock podium as it tumbles end-over-end from the mountaintop. This brief and over-the-top collection is however a first step on the long path of enchanting insanity which will follow, with each and every second pushing your limits regarding ridiculousness even further. Nevertheless however ludicrous it may look, do not result in the mistake of dismissing Bayonetta because all fashion with no chemical. Beneath the glossy act lies a good accessible yet deep as well as intricately nuanced battle system that lets you perform remarkable feats and feel like section of the magically strengthened. This high-octane hack-and-slash sport is adeptly paced and further enhanced by a number of subtle yet brilliant changes to the formula. These include a powerful item concoction mode, an all-inclusive scoring method with online leaderboards, plus a loading monitor cleverly hidden as a training mode. No matter whether you believe within magic or otherwise, Bayonetta is a really bewitching experience.

500 years is long enough with an entire world to improve, which is what are the woman called Bayonetta discovers after awakening from her snooze in a grave at the bottom of an lake. Together with her memory not surprisingly hazy, Bayonetta remembers little more than that they is an Umbran Wizard and looking regarding something called The Eyes worldwide. On a tip from her informant, she brain to the separated city of Vigrid in which she sets out to piece together the girl missing thoughts and discover the downfall involving her family and its competitors: the Lumen Sages. Just what ensues is really a series of hilariously over-the-top moments–each of which somehow exceeds the previous–that freely form a narrative amidst various sight gags, sex innuendos, and gratuitously chaotic angelic fatalities. Amidst each of the absurdity is a coherent plot with some surprisingly nice moments, however the main interest is the overcome, not the storytelling.

Having developed with the devils of Inferno, who serve as a source of her power, Bayonetta is a human enemy with the angels of Paradiso who seem to emerge each and every corner within Vigrid spoiling for any fight. Network . from the get-go using a unique pair of four firearms (two of that happen to be attached to the woman’s high heels), Bayonetta punches, kicks, as well as shoots the girl way from the heavenly aggressors which hound her every step. Aside from the basics, she could also perform number of classy special attacks to discipline her enemies in frequently mind-boggling ways. Topic climax attacks can affect out at all nearby opponents with most or even all of Bayonetta’s creatively wielded guns; wicked weave assaults summon gigantic, demonic appendages in her hair for a wonderful sucker impact or back heel stomp; and also torture attacks that create pain- and humiliation-inducing contraptions out of nothing. You’re able to dish out an incredible volume of hurt in Bayonetta, and it’s tough not to always be hooked right after experiencing the pure pleasure regarding performing a outrageous mix which may or may not include break bouncing, ensorcelled guillotines, and dozens of bullets to bridge jointly your variety punches and kicks. While you fight over the angelic choirs, a number of new tools, such as a cursed katana or even an enchanted couple of ice skates, are usually unlocked via trade with the particular demonic barkeep/smith Rodin, enhancing your currently impressive collection even further. Simply because both Bayonetta’s hands and feet are the girl weapons, an individual equip both with your instruments of incredible destruction and may even have a couple of entirely different sets prepared for action using the tap of your mouse. These two arsenals can be swapped midcombo, which offers a great deal of freedom (particularly when combating several different kinds of angels at once) and also makes combat feel free-form and also pleasing. Actually, angels will yowl before you happen to be finished with all of them.

From the very beginning of the video game, dozens of distinct combo episodes can be performed with all the right recipke of option presses as well as timing, nevertheless even more sophisticated techniques are around for purchase from Rodin also. In an clever move, your between-level loading monitors also double as a practice setting of types where you can play around with each associated with Bayonetta’s attacks. Including a handy on-screen move listing, this function is very helpful for understanding the variations between the a variety of combos and also finding the ones that work best for you, and you can even turn it into a full-fledged apply mode on the touch of the mouse button. Even with this helpful setting, though, it can be tricky to know the understated nuances of combat. If complex combos or perhaps elaborate invasion dances aren’t look, Bayonetta’s easy and a breeze difficulties provide everyone using the means for performing even the nearly all impressive regarding attacks nearly effortlessly. However for those clamoring to get a challenge, Bayonetta does not disappoint–on normal issues, even reduced angels can prove to be dangerous, and there are generally two tougher levels to unlock for skillful regarding players for you to brave. The core auto mechanic that energizes Bayonetta’s combat intricacy is your ability to dodge opponent assaults: Yanking the right induce at just about any time–including midcombo–will instantly cause Bayonetta to pirouette somewhere safe. Enemies reach hard as well as rarely fall bonus wellness, so it is in your best interest to exploit your current dodging expertise as often as you possibly can. Indeed, your combat method is not only constructed around the notion of avoiding harm altogether, it also rewards an individual for doing this in more ways than one. In case you dodge panic or anxiety attack at the final possible instant, Bayonetta activates a robust ability generally known as witch moment, which for the short term slows occasion down to the crawl for anyone else as well as allows your ex to thrash the woman’s foes as well as circumvent his or her sometimes significant defenses. By making dodging therefore accessible along with utilitarian, designer Platinum Video games has altered each fight into a fluid, continuous party, with your functionality graded and also compared in opposition to other gamers via on-line leaderboards. This certifying system all judges your angel-slaying aptitude based on period spent in battle, combo destruction dealt, along with damage consumed for each struggle and phase. Obtaining the coveted “pure platinum” grade inside a complete degree or even a individual encounter for your speed and also skill is actually both difficult and fulfilling. Going for them all is a great cause to replay along with drive your current scores greater and higher.

Every one of the 16 chapters in Bayonetta will be broken down right into a series of self-contained adversary encounters named verses. When they are not actively harming the real estate agents of bliss, you move around your witch through Vigrid, along with its surrounding locations, solving basic environmental puzzles, finding components to concoct health and assist items (most lollipops, naturally), searching for hidden challenge rooms, and watching as the pleasantly crazy story unfolds one cutscene at the same time. When the moon is entire and visible–which takes place more often than you could think–Bayonetta is able to wizard walk upon walls and ceilings to move about or battle. These situations are among the most unique moments throughout Bayonetta, and being able to run across a collapsing wall to stop an inward bound wave of molten lava or perhaps leap through floor to wall in order to ceiling to remain a livid assault is not only freeing, just about all adds a brand new dimension to the genre. Actions peaks in the event the most powerful involving angels–the personifications of the cardinal virtues–appear and try to stop Bayonetta, and you’ll need to have every one of the capabilities at your disposal to be able to defeat these types of titans involving heaven inside awesome multipart battles. Each employer fight finishes with an appropriately named climax attack in which summons among the numerous infernal demons Bayonetta provides contracted together with (and generally seems to keep in her hair) for you to brutally complete them away and pull them down to hell.

With every moment put in the world of Bayonetta, it is more and more evident that an large number of effort was spent in making every little thing look while stylish as you can. The frame rate is sharp and smooth, with each associated with Bayonetta’s ridiculous, hypersexualized presents expertly cartoon. Watching because she suplexes endless weeks of frustration angels at once, beats herself inside a dance off of, or jumpstarts a motorcycle by using the woman’s middle little finger as a secret is delightful, as well as the arena for each boss fight is a look to observe. Even the a lot more mundane steps are cautiously detailed–Bayonetta doesn’t a lot bleed as she flowers roses, double jumps are generally assisted from the butterfly wings that develop from the woman’s back, and so forth. Angels have a fantastic yet grotesque art course that integrates together components from classically beautiful Greco-Roman statues with avian, termite, or even scientific bases to create unique designs. Some of them, including the virtue Fortitudo–a twin-headed monster whose key body is themselves yet another the other way up head–stand out greater than others, nevertheless all are remarkable. Though the powerful camera generally does a superb job involving ensuring that the action is entrance and center–particularly in the course of witch wander sequences–there are a few encased areas where it seems like unsure as to what to do. This is a rare event, however, and overall, it’s a minor aggravation at most severe.

Matching the actual over-the-top action associated with Bayonetta is a appropriately ridiculous soundtrack which is equal pieces annoyingly different pop, legendary chorus, as well as retro arcade synth. Like the remainder of Bayonetta, the soundtrack is incredibly tongue-in-cheek, particularly a good upbeat remix involving “Fly Me to the Moon” that is used through the entire online game, and most often as you gleefully vessel angelic opponents in a circulating dance involving death and display. Associated the soundtrack is definitely an all-star voice cast, the real star of which is actually, of course, Bayonetta herself, who is voiced with just the correct combination of sultry, sass, and self-confidence to bring her alive and keep the girl from devolving to the realm of label and saying. With virtually every ridiculous stop, she offers a double entendre in their feisty British accent (continuously with a wink in her own eye), the total spectacle which brings a smile to your encounter.

With the fluidity and suppleness of its battling engine, revolutionary use of round time and wall-walking aspects, and the cut-throat online credit scoring system that is certainly weaved directly into its quite fabric, Bayonetta isn’t so much any sister to other combat-oriented action video games as it is a good evolution of them. The battle handles are soft smooth in the very first minute you experience them, and the magic remains throughout the entire voyage; whether you happen to be throwing a new bus at the boss or even hitching a ride on a ballistic bomb. Chock-full of usually silly but always unique moments, Bayonetta is hard to get out of your mind even after you have stopped playing it. Above all else, almost everything about Bayonetta feels perfect. Its host of concealed items as well as secrets, several difficulties, reasonably balanced rating system, and also charismatic heroine convert it into a game that’ll be revisited time and time again. This can be one motion game that you just absolutely must not miss.

DiasFlec | RipTen Review: Warp (XBLA) | (2/20/2012)

1329697455 62 RipTen Review: Warp (XBLA)

As soon as I got past the first cut scene of Warp, the ghost of Chell and ‘Splosion Man reached out of my TV, shot across the room, and promptly slapped me. For the rest of my playthrough, I just couldn’t shake the Portal and ‘Splosion Man vibes that screamed out at me as I watched little Zero, a cute little orange thingamajig, wiggle and warp his way to escape through the large underwater laboratory in which he was being experimented upon. The keywords ‘lab’ and ‘warp’ are perhaps enough to warrant the Portal comparisons, but how does ‘Splosion Man tie in?

Zero might be all wobble and chubby-innocence at first blush, but I had to swallow my own words after discovering that Zero’s teleporting abilities weren’t limited to just warping into barrels after coming across a corpse. Out of morbid curiosity (and because the lab technician’s corpse lit up when I highlighted him with the cursor that indicated where Zero would warp), I warped into the body. To my sickened delight, it worked.

Zero’s abilities in warping aren’t just limited to propelling himself forward in the air or hiding in a corpse/barrel via teleportation. Whatever he’s managed to teleport himself into, he can also explode. I’m not a huge fan of how Trapdoor went about mapping explosions on the joystick, since it involves grinding the left joystick around until your left with a nub. I’m not sure why the developer is promoting destroying your Xbox controller, but make sure you use the shoddy controller you don’t mind grinding apart to play Warp. (For those of you who think I’m exaggerating, I looked down at my controller after about an hour of Warp… it took me a while to figure out what all those gray, used-pencil-eraser bits on my controller were.) Barrels can be exploded without much of a hurrah, but bodies, as you can imagine, squelch apart in a frenzy of blood. We’re left with a smear of the scientists that Zero just murdered and Zero himself, still cooing as adorably and innocently as he did before in a pool of human insides. Let the ‘Splosion Man comparisons begin.

Warp, as you’ve probably guessed from my Portal and ‘Splosion Man comparisons, is one part strategy, one part stealth, and one part guts-‘n-blood-‘n-‘splosions fun. Initially, the game’s laughably easy, requiring little more thought than to warp around a few barrels to confuse trigger-happy scientists before you turn them into a mist of red. However, the game’s difficulty gets ramped up significantly after the first hour. Sure, the AI never gets any smarter and you can usually warp behind a barrel or two and the gun-toting scientists will leave you alone, but sometimes you’re thrown into a room with two or three of the gun-wielding fellows who aren’t hesitant to shoot each other in order to kill Zero, and the experience become a tad more frustrating.

Trapdoor’s also scattered challenge modes across different rooms. They’re indicated by giant glowing orbs that you really can’t miss. These diversions really bring out the twitch aspects of Warp, as they really require physical skill in order to do well. They’re broken down in between the “frag” and “warp” elements of the game and are timed. The “warp” challenges require you to warp across gaps and obstacles, trying to beat times where the bar is set a little too high. I think Trapdoor might think a little too highly of its players’ reflexes. The “frag” challenges require you to kill a certain amount of scientists within a given time range, without getting shot yourself. This sounds more difficult than you think. I don’t exactly have the reflexes required to have a field day in a twitch shooter, but I’m decent enough and I’ve yet to do better than bronze on any of these challenges. Then again, I could be missing the obvious trick to them.

Warp’s also got an upgrade system that really is treated like little more than an afterthought. You can collect purplish amoeba things dubbed “grub”, which Zero ingests. As most upgrade systems tend to work, you collect and redeem grub for upgrades. They are few and far between, and unless you’re a really gung-ho collector, they’re usually placed around in areas you wouldn’t bother warping to. Even a few hours into the game, I’d only grabbed a few upgrades and they made so little difference that I hardly bothered afterwards.

Eventually, Zero begins to gain more abilities that help you through puzzles. For instance, one gained a few hours in allows you to cast an illusion of Zero, or whatever container he’s in. It comes in handy for solving a few puzzles and for a boss battle. Still, these abilities do little more than enhance the base warping ability he has.

Overall, Warp is a fun little experience. It’s frustrating at times, since it occasionally requires more twitch reflexes than strategy. Warping into things and blowing them up really holds the game together, but once that novelty wears off, violently moving your left stick around as a main game mechanic really starts to get on your nerves. I’d say it’s definitely worth a play through if you’re looking for something fun for an afternoon or so.

Here’s the rundown:

+ Zero is cute and explodes things+ There’s nothing more satisfying than watching a scientist scramble away in fear from an orange blob+ More excessive gore than a B movie- My left joystick has been ground down into a nub- Novelty wears off after an hour or so

7 and 7.5 represent a game that overall manages to be worth a playthrough, just not worth the full price at launch. These scores are for games that are relatively good or even really good, but generally worth waiting for a sale or picking up as a rental when possible.

Warp was played to completion in about ten hours, mostly because the reviewer really sucks at these type of games, so expect to finish the game much faster. Warp was developed by Trapdoor and published by Electronic Arts, who graciously provided a review code to RipTen.

1329679449 31 Vita: too big, too pricey, no phone

Our iPhones and Androids are reasonably decent game gadgets that do thousands of other tasks and can be used to call the office. So how many of us will pay $250 and up for a device that’s exceptional at just one thing?

Sony’s video game business has gone a long time between hits. The company dominated the home video game console market with its relatively cheap PlayStation 2. Then came 2006 and the PlayStation 3. It was the most technically advanced console on the market, but its $600 price tag scared away shoppers. Today, you can get a PS 3 for $250, but Sony’s share of the game market still lags behind Nintendo Co.’s Wii and Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360.

The entry-level PS Vita costs $250, same as a basic PS 3 and $100 more than Nintendo’s 3DS hand-held game machine. The Vita’s price makes sense at first; this thing’s a monster. It’s about seven inches long, three-quarters of an inch thick, and weighs nine ounces; quite a load, especially if you’re already toting a smartphone.

All that extra space is stuffed with advanced technology. The Vita has a GPS location chip, it supports 3G cellular data courtesy of AT&T Inc., and then there’s the monster processor and an amazing OLED (organic light-emitting diode) video screen. I’m a sucker for OLED technology, which delivers richer color contrast than the usual liquid-crystal display screens.

But then you notice that the base model Vita lacks a vital accessory: a flash memory chip for storing saved games. You’ll pay about $20 for a four-gigabyte flash card. And Sony insists you use the company’s proprietary “memory sticks,’’ which cost more than the commonplace SD memory cards.

That's not astounding that you and your neighbors are more interested in game than in sonic games. Quite honestly, "Nothing is certain but death and taxes." Let's elaborate on this. I feel like a stranger in a strange land. I can't stand kibitzers visiting me at my house. #2 World of Warcraft It's hard to find words to describe the World of Warcraft, massively multiplayer online RPG. Xbox 360 Game Reviews and Ratings – NBA Inside Drive 2003 – News, features, game trailers and video.

1329662661 41 Xbox 360 Game Reviews and Ratings NBA Inside Drive 2003 News, features, game trailers and video.

The extra choices, especially the franchise’s mode, succeed in giving On the inside Drive The year 2003 the long life that On the inside Drive Two thousand and two lacked, as well as the refinements on the gameplay make it more entertaining.

Giancarlo Varanini gives his thoughts on Microsoft’s addition to this year’s basketball game lineup. Take a look at some footage of NBA Inside Drive 2003 in this movie. Cleveland and Sacramento go head to head in this clip.

The extra possibilities, especially the franchise’s mode, reach your goals in giving On the inside Drive 2002 the long life that Inside Drive Two thousand and two lacked, and the refinements on the gameplay help it become more enjoyable.Last year’s Nba Inside Generate was a respectable first accessibility into the an entire world of professional hockey for the Xbox 360, having the majority of fundamentals from the sport unchanged. But On the inside Drive Two thousand and two had a number of gameplay issues and a critical lack of extra options to choose from, which constrained the mission’s appeal among die-hard basketball enthusiasts. Inside Drive 2003 fixes many of the predecessor’s problems and takes a major step forward in succeeding as a serious contender, with an all-new franchise mode and some notable game play tweaks. But there are still several lingering conditions keep this 1 from getting the best basketball game for your money. The greatest addition to the 2011 iteration associated with Inside Drive is the franchise’s mode, a feature sorely lacking in final year’s online game. Like in almost every other franchise settings, you can go with a team and also take it by means of multiple Basketball seasons (in this case up to Twenty-five seasons) in an attempt to make it to the particular championship. Following selecting a group in this setting, you can change a number of options, which include whether or not you wish to participate in a fantasy draft, the problem level, along the season, person streaks (no matter whether a player can be “hot” or “cold” determined by performance), low energy, and other similar options. Additionally, you can make a few last-minute tweaks in your team before commencing the season by entering the front-office choice. In this area, you’ll be able to edit the present roster, industry players, indicator free real estate agents, release current players under contract, build a player, as well as get an total view of your current team’s awards.

The software system in Inside of Drive’s franchise function is pretty clear-cut. You can placed any about three players for your team up regarding trade therefore can your opposing team, therefore it is possible to possess a full three-man change where both teams acquire three beginners, or you can possess a three-for-one or two-for-one industry where a single team tries to get a superstar player for 2 or 3 lesser participants, though the chances of the latter industry strategy getting good results are obviously slim. It’s also worth noting that you can industry players regarding draft picks, but the identical rules apply–you is not going to have much good results in buying and selling a second-tier participant for a crew’s first-round draft choose. When you’re accomplished adjusting the group roster, you are able to move into the time of year and go for the Nba championship.Your record at the conclusion of the season–or occasionally your front-office dealings–will determine your position in the NBA draw up, so if you conclude with the worst type of record, then you’ll definitely have a much greater chance of getting the number one select. When it’s your time and effort to make a choice in the draft, you’ll be presented with a list of gamers as well as their individual statistics, for example overall performance. Moreover, you’ll see the particular predicted draft choice for the group, so you’re going to get an idea of what type of player you need to choose if you haven’t been watching your team’s weaknesses as well as strengths. Of course, the draw up isn’t the best to risk-free new talent or to load holes left by retiring players throughout Inside Drive’s off-season. You can even scour your free-agency ranks for almost any potential beginners, but you also need to be aware of your present “financial” position considering that a big-name no cost agent could very well put you within the point cap in the game.

With the franchise mode, Inside Generate offers a brand new practice setting where you can familiarize yourself with the basics in the game, specially shooting, which usually feels a bit odd initially simply because you don’t really get a full feel for every time a player grows to the top of their jump. This kind of results in the actual timing of your respective shots as a little away, ultimately bringing about a missed basket in many instances, but a few works through the practice mode must get you to where it’s not quite as awkward.

Additionally, there are single-game and playoff options for those who either want to jump right into a video game or skip the entire time and get directly for your NBA World-class. The create-a-player mode, which was absent from Inside Travel 2002, is pretty robust, allowing you to change just about every aspect of the gamblers physical appearance, questionable capabilities, defensive capabilities, shooting skills, as well as AI behaviors, which perform similarly to the particular gameplay sliders. As far as genuine gameplay is involved, Inside Drive is sound on nearly every front apart from some areas of the offensive game, the most notable problem staying the inability to pass out of layups or perhaps similar movements to the basket. One of the most important aspects of specialist basketball has been able to travel to the side of the road and have a player make it appear to be he’s rising for a photo so that the guy can draw protection, but then cross the golf ball to an available man inside or to a wide-open player from the border. Indeed, normally driving from the lane can be somewhat problematic because the AI tends to latch on to players inside the paint, along with the juke moves can be challenging to use successfully against hard opponents.

Alternatively, the post-up sport is performed quite well. Each time a ball falls to a man on the block, he can post up the defensive player along with drive towards the basket for a closer jump shot, or man with the ball could roll off the defender and then try to go in for the actual dunk or even layup. You can also use this opportunity to bring a dual team from your defense after which pass the particular ball out to a team mate on the outside. The defensive part of the golf ball is pretty nicely balanced, and you should never have too a lot trouble being on the ball owner, unless it is a star participant like Shaquille O’Neal or perhaps Kobe Bryant, just who have an abnormal ability to credit score consistently coming from just about any location on the court.

Within Drive The year 2003 doesn’t seem substantially different from last year’s game, though the players even now look fairly detailed, regardless of whether they’re not fully accurate. The particular arenas look good as well, nevertheless the crowd–which animates poorly, and just looks like an enormous cardboard cutout–is in dire necessity of some function, though there are several nicely detailed player types on the participant benches. It’s also worth noting that the game lacks any type of TV-style presentation. Following a game, gamers inexplicably stand at the side of a legal court like zombies as the commentators supply their conclusions on the online game, and the gamer introductions are lacking in anticipation. The commentary is remarkably great along with comes very close to matching the superb commentary in the NBA 2K series. The team is made up of four people, particularly Kevin Calabro and Kenny Cruz, and each ones brings a unique style of awareness to the sport. More importantly, the vast majority of commentary usually flow properly, and the commentators will even communicate with each other, rendering it seem considerably more natural.

Any additional options, specially the franchise mode, succeed in providing Inside Drive 2003 your longevity that Inside Drive 2002 lacked, and the unique features to the game play make it far more entertaining. The actual commentary is additionally vastly improved upon and well worth paying attention to as a game advances. However, On the inside Drive nonetheless lacks some of the finer details of the sport and also some features that are to be had by the competitors, most notably on the internet play. Whatever the case, Inside Travel 2003 is still a solid advancement over very last year’s sport.
