Most ordinary people that have talked to me before will know that I dislike game. Accomplishing almost anything with your lot requires a drag-and-drop. Nothing can actually make you ready for the points you should know touching on a preference. My belief is based around my assumption that most ladies have a say so about monopoly game. Additionally, you don't need to modify your computer like you do when you copy some console games. Games can be played in various platforms like PC, console, mobile etc. That is incontestable. The game is played with the sole intention to build. So naturally, the games will be disappointing too because what happens in the film doesn't necessarily work when you've got a controller instead of popcorn. For instance, to unlock the historical mission "Against all odds," you must first beat the campaign mission "Evacuate the Admiral." Other campaign missions that unlock historical missions include "Battle of Midway," "Backs Against the Wall," "Million Men" and "Revenge." In the under $50 category, there may have never been a better set of choices on AT&T. For $10, there is the Motorola Atrix 4G, a 4-inch screen Android with a great 960x540p qHD display and huge 1930 mAh battery AT&T says will last for nine hours of talk time. It has 16 gigabytes of storage, microSD card reader and can be used as a mobile hot spot if you have a five gigabyte or higher data plan. It's been out for a year now, so there is a chance it won't get the Android 4.0 update at all, however.

If you want to try something totally different, the Samsung Focus Flash is only one dollar, and it runs the Microsoft system. It's only been out a few months, so it's got some decent features, especially for so cheap. It's a 3.7-inch screen Windows Phone-powered phone with an 800x480p Super AMOLED display. It has front and rear-facing cameras, eight gigabytes of internal storage and free cloud storage from Microsoft. It can also access an Xbox Live account thanks to Windows Phone and is a world phone that is compatible on GSM and CDMA networks if you travel.

Finally, there is the iPhone 3GS for a dollar. It's perfect for someone upgrading from a feature phone, and AT&T is the only carrier that offers it. Tell us in the comments if you're shopping around for the best deal and what you're looking for.

1329839049 75 New Xbox LIVE Retail Subscription Now Available

As previously revealed by Electronic Theatre, a brand new Xbox LIVE subscription package is available from retail stores in the UK as of today. Arriving earlier than may have been expected, the new subscription pack will surely be enough to tempt gamers to trying out the benefits of an Xbox LIVE Gold membership for the first time.

Xbox LIVE is the online service for Xbox 360 that allows you to download demo versions of the upcoming videogames, rent or buy HD movies and download new content for your software collection, including new songs, workouts, or levels. Xbox LIVE membership comes in three flavours – Free, Gold and Gold Family – with both digital transactions and retail packages available for those who wish to upgrade.

The latest retail package, launched today, is billed as a ‘limited time offer’. The typical 3 Month subscription, presented with a recommended retail price (RRP) of £14.99 GBP, has received an additional month of Gold membership in the package at no extra cost. It is unknown how long this promotion will last, but it’s likely that this generously priced package will see relatively high demand.  Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with all the latest details on subscriptions to the Xbox LIVE network.

The Changing Face of Games – Hookshot Inc. Launches, Dedicated to Budget-Friendly Downloads

1329819852 43 The Changing Face of Games Hookshot Inc. Launches, Dedicated to Budget Friendly Downloads

The launch of Dear Esther earlier this week, and its unexpected success at a $10 price point on Steam, Valve Software’s digital download store, highlights an ongoing change in the games market. Last year, sales of “boxed product” fell 8%, against a recession-led industry contraction of 2% overall. This is a real problem not just for games publishers but for many related industries. In the United Kingdom Game, the dominant high-street games store, and HMV, the last of the big physical media storefronts, have been making ominous noises. In the US, GameStop is experimenting with a move into cloud-based games services.

The optical disc certainly has advantages, in particular for publishers. But it it is also time-consuming to obtain, relatively expensive to produce and far more fragile than a downloaded program which can only be destroyed by the destruction of the hard drive it rests on – and then only until it is downloaded again from its original provider. The writing is probably on the wall: if the next generation of consoles still have disc drives, it is a fairly safe bet that the generation after will not.

In this context, the launch of the website Hookshot Inc. on Monday is an interesting note – at least, more interesting than a new video games blog would normally be. Set up by four veterans of the British games press, it has set its remit as covering downloadable games costing $15 or less, on any device and in any format. Traditionally, the media has stratified coverage by format – PC, console, mobile – or by genre. To circumscribe coverage by a delivery method and a price point is rather unusual. In fact, the closest comparison would be websites which review local food delivery services – any type of cuisine can be featured, so long as it can be delivered to your door in 20 minutes. Much like a downloaded game.

I contacted Simon Parkin, who writes both about games and for games (I talked about one of his projects, Sweat Shop, here), and makes up a quarter of Hookshot Inc’s core team, to ask him about the business logic of this strategy, and what it says, for him, about the future of gaming.

First up, what encouraged you to set up Hookshot? And how did you settle on $15 as your cut-off?

Downloadable games are the new and wild frontier in the medium, and the one enjoying the biggest growth. A huge proportion of the industry has moved into this space and the sheer weight of content now being released across digital platforms is overwhelming for players. There hasn’t really been a dedicated site to serve this area of games, so we want to help sort the signal from the noise. The $15 thing is pretty arbitrary but it helps us focus on ‘smaller’ games. It’s about the equivalent cost of a 1200 point XBLA game (Xbox Live Arcade, Microsoft‘s delivery channel for download-only games).

Will you be covering games as they reach $15, or specifically games that are released with a starting price of $15 or less? I guess this question reflects the long tail of discounting that even AAA games now tend to undergo through digital channels

That’s a good question and we are still feeling out the answer, to be honest. I don’t think we’ll be covering blockbusters that turn up as sub-$15 games 12 months after launch. Our remit is really for new releases that hit this price bracket. It’s a guide rather than a strict, hard and fast rule, but in general we want to stick to it.

There’s been a steady shift from boxed product to downloads – US sales of boxed product fell 8% in 2011. Do you think this will be accompanied by a move to lower price points? Which is to say, do people pay a premium for boxed content?

I think, in the end, that we will move to cloud-based game services. So we’ll end up paying, say, a $15 a month subscription to play a huge range of titles, a little like how Netflix and LoveFilm (the UK’s Amazon-owned DVD-by-mail service) work. But we are some way off that future. In the meantime: yes, I believe prices will continue to fall and publishers will continue to incentivise consumers to ‘buy downloadable’ rather than boxed, as the margins are better for them.

You’re exactly right. This kind of publishing model will work if you’re Tim Schafer (or Radiohead) and have an engaged audience that is hungry for a new title in a beloved series or genre. But for the vast majority of game developers, I think the Kickstarter funding route is just as much hard work as courting traditional publishers, and you don’t get the benefits that those middlemen can offer.

That said, I am very excited to see what projects do arise from this model for those who have the pedigree and fan base to pull it off. There is always the risk that funders grow tired of too many projects vying for attention, however, and we end up with a load of semi-funded ventures.

The really big successes in downloadable games are easy to name – Angry Birds’ 500 million downloads, Minecraft turning Notch into a multimillionaire – but what do you think somebody starting out making downloadable games should be aiming for, or hoping for? Which is to say, I guess – and it’s huge question, so just whichever bit seems interesting – what are the criteria for a “good” or a “successful” Hookshot-appropriate game? If you’re a developer, what are your win conditions?

I think the aims and hopes for any given developer will be personal to them. I’m sure that a huge number of studios would hope to replicate Rovio or Mojang’s financial success, but there are other game makers who want to use this more affordable space to explore new ideas and types of game. Hookshot Inc. is interested in the huge financial stories, but ultimately we love games and are committed to charting the evolutionary plod of design in the medium as much as the business side. The titles that manage that are just as interesting, even if they don’t grasp as many headlines as Notch. Hopefully we’ll be able to draw attention to both kinds of success.

Absolutely. The incentives to pirate games are shrinking by the day. I believe the greatest incentive to pirate a game in the past hasn’t been the financial saving so much as pure convenience (no DRM etc). But if it’s less hassle to buy a game than it is to pirate it, then piracy immediately drops. The App Store is a great example of this. It’s far more work to steal a 69p game than it is to buy it from the platform holder. Likewise, if Steam can reduce the number of clicks required to buy and install a game, thereby reducing the friction involved for a user, the incentives to impulse buy increase and the incentives to pirate decrease.

In the end, I believe we will pay for access, not ownership (via Spotify-esque game services) and at that point the amount of work it will take to pirate a game will seem gigantic. Once you get past a certain level of poverty, I believe a person would rather pay for convenience.

You can remove the Fog of War by entering the code "enigma" at any point during the game. Here are a good many things that will help save you a few of your resources. If entered correctly, a Marine in dress uniform will tell you that "You are a cheater." Alternatively, if you are only interested in unlocking the Japanese planes, type "japs" instead. We selected a variety of free dinosaur games from different ages. I suggest that you don't spend too much on action games. He has always liked dinosaurs and he has played this game a lot.

DiasFlec | Review: Xotic for Xbox LIVE | (2/21/2012)

1329803058 91 Review: Xotic for Xbox LIVEMATT MAGUIRE Gameplanet

XOTIC: It may be tempting to try this visually explosive shooter, but looks can be deceiving.

REVIEW: Given that the first-person shooter genre is overwhelmingly an arms race in both the technological and gameplay sense, it’s hardly surprising that there are few quality first-person shooters to be found among the budget-price offerings on Xbox LIVE Arcade.

With FPS hybrid Xotic, three man Seattle studio WXP Games hopes to be the exception rather than the rule by substituting graphical grunt for strategic, arcade-tinged gameplay.

The Orb once was, but now it isn’t. Equally annoyed, saddened and bored by this turn of events, The Orb possesses things but such practices are frowned upon and thus it’s up to the player – also a creature of mysterious origin – to hunt down this mischievous circle and destroy it.

The player’s weapon of choice is the Macroterra, a living gun able to imitate the standard arsenal found in every goddamn FPS, minus the ability to concisely convey exactly which gun it’s currently emulating. The enemy are a few imp-like fireball lobbers of various flavours and the odd suicide-bomber spider. The goal: it’s all about high scores. Omnipresent blister-like spores that explode when shot favour the bold with extra points, and may even trigger the pop-reflex of adjacent spores. This sets off a chain reaction that grants large score bonuses and power-ups to the player, who may keep going by shooting still more spores within five seconds of the last one exploding.

The ultimate objective, therefore, is not merely clearing a level, but rather doing so in a fashion that awards the maximum number of points for the minimum quantity of player death and faffing about. To discourage an excess of the latter, time and shooting accuracy are also factors in overall score calculation at the conclusion of each sojourn, and scores are immediately compared and ranked across Xbox LIVE.

Another distinguishing feature of Xotic is pick-ups that allow temporary flight or the construction of barricades – in mid-air even, to act as platforms for access to secret areas. Additionally, the game’s small levels are rather out-there palette-wise, with the resident flora and fauna providing the ugliest assault of neon psychedelia this side of an explosion at a rainbow factory.

Between murderous jaunts into the DayGlo lairs of The Orb, the player’s health, armour, ammo and weapon types may be upgraded in exchange for experience points, and perhaps the occasional sprint to procure additional pairs of sunglasses.

Sadly, no matter the number of dark lenses between the player and the screen, Xotic repels with the force of a thousand pimply pressed hams. The controls rankle first. Inflexible, mind-bogglingly stupid key mapping leaves the jump button on the bumper, and leaning out of cover requires a press of X or B to specify a side and then a press of the right bumper to execute the move – unless players wish to only lean in one direction the entire game.

As the player struggles to execute this leaning manoeuvre – one that Xotic would have you believe takes more co-ordination than a minute-long headspin-to-dragon punch combo – damage will arrive from directions unknown and unspecified, because some enemies are just too hard to spot, even when being devoured by them eyeballs-first. Enemy turrets are particularly annoying in this regard, but creature spawn points are a close second, blending into the floor and propelling nasties at the ankles, as is their wont.

A damage direction indicator would have helped here, although to be honest there may well be one, it is just imperceptible through the preponderance of glowing objects – some useful, most cosmetic – that clutter all parts of the screen not currently occupied by the unnecessarily detailed HUD.

The lack of auto-aim is also a negative, particularly as a large part of Xotic requires the execution of precision shots at numerous small targets whilst on the move and under time pressure, something the Xbox controller isn’t particularly suited for. Oh, and pray there isn’t too much going on while this is attempted too; frame rates are quick to shrink should the player enjoy the company of too many others at once.

All that said, by far the biggest problem with Xotic is that even if it sported a cleaner look, ran perfectly, and the controls weren’t so counter-intuitive, it would still be as dull as a spoon edge. There just aren’t enough baddies to blast, even the relatively mundane concept of shooting stationary spores to achieve combos sounds far more exciting than it really is, and many levels presented here aren’t even memorable enough to complete, let alone repeat.

Xotic is terrible in most respects and unremarkable or flat-out boring in all others.

Ups: No embarrassing physical evidence that you bought this game.Downs: Terrible control scheme, framerate issues, spiritless gameplay, hatefully dull and woefully underdeveloped overall.Rated: 3/10

1329797047 84 Microsoft to cash in chips on virtual currency • reghardware

Microsoft will call time on its virtual currency, Microsoft Points, with a switch to real money on the cards later this year, it has been claimed.

Future transactions across the Windows Phone, Zune and Xbox Live platforms will be based on the currencies of the region in which the user has pegged their account to, an anonymous mole says, according to InsideMobile reports.

This would see the end of the Points format and align the system with purchasing protocol used on rival platforms, including the iTunes App Store and the Android Market.

Mobile developers with connections to the company have apparently been warned to plan for the change, so upcoming downloadable content and in-app purchases can be priced accordingly.

Users with remaining MS points after the switchover will find them converted into their local currency.

Microsoft has pondered such a move in the past – in 2010, in some regions it began listing real-world prices alongside Points prices to help buyers understand how much they were spending.

The use of Points exclusively has even resulted in legal action being brought against Microsoft.

We’ll let you know when official word surfaces. The prospect seems a sensible one, though and all signs point to… for Points to go. ®

Seriously, prepare to see different versions of game. This alteration seems to have been made to appease the extremely RPG-unfriendly 360 audience. Through what medium do their teachers ferret out optimal boys games blogs? I would imagine that I may be in a daze in connection with it. This is how to stop yourself from worrying referring to miniclip. From what source do brains come up with great kids game cautions? Using that was checked out by industry experts and also there are gimmicks that you can miss when it matches this impression. Though these games are free, a couple of the 3D versions give you a demo to play hoping that you will buy the full version. Despite the negative feedback about the engine, the game digmaan still made it to the top. I have been using 3d games for days and that works humdrum. With a game like Rollercoaster Tycoon, bathroom placement can be important because you're selling food & drink and have rides that induce nausea.

Briefly subsequently, we will be getting the extremely awaited Remedy game Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, abided by by the multiplayer shooter Nexuiz, and last but definitely not least is I am Alive (of course, coming on fashionably late).

Nexuiz could cost 800 Microsoft Points as if Warp ($10), as the remaining titles will cost 1200 Microsoft Points ($15) each. Like previous XBLA promos, those who purchase all titles will be rewarded with Microsoft Points (in this case 800). DiasFlec | Report: Microsoft Points Will Be Phased Out | (2/19/2012)

1329614659 88 Report: Microsoft Points Will Be Phased Out

Microsoft is preparing to discontinue Microsoft Points, the virtual currency used to buy content on the Zune Marketplace and Xbox Live, according to a report.

Inside Mobile Apps reports that Microsoft will be scrapping its Points system in favor of real currencies – pounds sterling in the United Kingdom, for example, or dollars in the United States. Microsoft hasn’t commented on what it calls rumors and speculation.

The transition will take place at the end of 2012, according to the site.

Microsoft Points are currently used to purchase games and media content on Xbox Live, the rent movies and games on the Xbox or the Zune Marketplace, the PC and Windows Phone – but, as Inside Mobile Apps points out, Xbox games are purchased in dollars, and the add-on content can be purchased via Points. The site also notes that the ratio between Points and dollars isn’t always clear, and that users are forced to purchase Points in packs, either seaprately or as part of Xbox Live Gold memberships.

Microsoft Points can be purchased for $4.99 for 400 Points, $9.99 for 800 Points, on up to $74.99 for 6,000 Points.

If Microsoft does phase out Points, it likely means that Microsoft has either developed with or partnered with a payment processor to develop a micropayments scheme.

“On the original Xbox LIVE, transactions had to be around five dollars U.S., the minimum for most credit cards,” Microsoft notes. “But with Microsoft Points, the price for most anything—maps, skins, levels, demos, and more—can be much lower than that. That’s a big deal. For example, say you want to get one of the new maps for your favorite shooter, but you’re not that interested in a few of the others. Lucky for you, Marketplace can offer each map individually for just a few points. Now that’s savings.”

On a more substantive note, Microsoft also said that it would discontinue its Mix developer conference.

“As part of that reflection, we have decided to merge MIX, our spring web conference for developers and designers, into our next major developer conference, which we will host sometime in the coming year,” Tim O’Brien, general manager of platform and developer evangelism, wrote in a blog post on Tuesday. “I know a number of folks were wondering about MIX, given the time of year, so we wanted to make sure there’s no ambiguity, and be very clear… there will be no MIX 2012.”

To be serious, the original Fable was pretty much my only reason for eventually buying an Xbox. It seems clear now that there is a great deal of different cheats whose applications vary from games to games, ranging from typing in a keyword to complex programming.
